Mobile Imaging Expands PET-CT Access to Public Patients
Public patients across New Zealand now have access to advanced PET-CT imaging closer to home, with Mobile Imaging’s service now accepting referrals through the public health system at all three site locations: Palmerston North, Lower Hutt, and Dunedin.
The expansion marks a significant step forward in equitable healthcare delivery, reducing travel burdens for those living outside major metropolitan areas.
“We’re excited about the impact this will have on patient outcomes,” says Mark Eager, Chief Executive of Mobile Health Group.
“For many provincial patients, diagnosis previously meant the disruption, cost, and stress of travelling to a large city, often at a time when they were already unwell. Providing these services closer to home makes a real and tangible difference, and we’re proud to be partnering with Health NZ to make it happen,” he adds.
Launched in April 2024 in partnership with Allevia Radiology (formerly Mercy Radiology), Mobile Imaging was established to deliver PET-CT services to communities underserved by fixed-site facilities.
Mobile Imaging is accepting public and private referrals for: FDG PET-CT, Gallium-68 PSMA PET-CT, Gallium-68 Dotatate PET-CT, and Diagnostic CT.
The newest addition, Gallium-68 Dotatate PET-CT, is a breakthrough in the diagnosis and management of neuroendocrine tumours – a group of rare and often difficult-to-detect cancers. This radiotracer enables highly precise imaging, supporting more accurate treatment planning.
